In 1997, Rubber & Plastics News (Crain Communications) approached Akron Dispersions with an idea to establish an International Conference devoted to the latex industry. Akron Dispersions, because of our experience, reputation and close association with the Latex Industry was delighted to participate in creating this event. Jim Finn, the Vice President of Akron Dispersions, became the Conference Chairman.

The Conference has 3 major objectives:

	To establish a forum for sharing ideas and experiences within our industry.
	To create an on-going event to allow for the presentation of new technologies, developments and research efforts.
	To provide an opportunity for discussion and debate on current and future issues affecting our industry.

There have been 5 Conferences, presenting 95 technical papers and a variety of workshops and panel discussions.
